Courchevel with children: ski school, childcare and planning

Courchevel is built for families: wide gentle pistes above Le Praz, plenty of ski schools, and childcare from 18 months. What remains is planning the week, and that is done before you arrive.

Ski lessons by age

  • —18 months - 3 years: snow garden, play-based, half days
  • —3-5 years: first group lessons, two hours in the morning
  • —6-12 years: ESF group lessons Sunday to Friday, morning or afternoon
  • —Teens and strong skiers: private lessons or freeride groups

Morning group lessons should be booked in autumn for Christmas and February half-term: this is the first slot to secure, before ski hire.

Nurseries and babysitting

Resort nurseries take small children by the day or half day, on reservation. From the chalet, the most flexible option is a nanny coming to you: children stay in familiar surroundings, sleep at their usual time and parents can eat calmly. We arrange this on request, including New Year's Eve.

A chalet that works for families

At Les Cochettes, 300 m² for 12 adults, children have their own space without taking over the adults': a bunk room for the youngest, a games room, a cinema, a private 10-metre indoor pool heated all day, and one big table where everyone eats together.

Activities beyond skiing

  • —Olympic ice rink in Courchevel 1850
  • —Sledging, husky rides and snowshoeing around Le Praz
  • —Aquamotion aquatic centre
  • —Walk around Le Praz lake and the Olympic ski jumps
  • —Cinema and bowling in the evening

The rhythm of a good week

Lessons in the morning, lunch at the chalet, family skiing or an activity in the afternoon, pool on return, early dinner for the little ones cooked by the chef: that pattern works best with children and avoids over-long days at altitude.
