February is the busiest month of the season: deep snow, longer days, and every European school holiday overlapping. It is also when the best chalets go first.
Dates to know for 2027
- —French school zones A, B and C: four consecutive weeks from February into early March
- —UK half-term: the week around 15 February, in very high demand
- —Swiss and Belgian holidays: mid-February, the same peak weeks
- —Quieter weeks: early February and the second half of March
What that does to prices
In February peak weeks, chalet rates sit at Christmas level, 30 to 50% above a January week. The first week of February and the second half of March often deliver better skiing for a considerably lower budget.
When to book
For peak weeks, book between September and November: after that the choice narrows to isolated dates. If your dates are flexible, waiting until January can catch a cancellation, but that is a risky bet for a group of ten or more.
Why Le Praz in February
At peak times, staying in Le Praz changes the week: you avoid the traffic and full car parks of 1850, reach the ski area by a gondola that rarely queues, and ski home to the village. At 1,300 m the village stays lively and calm while the high resort is packed.
The chalet
Les Cochettes sleeps 12 adults plus 2 babies across 300 sqm with a private 10-metre indoor pool, cinema room, games room, central fireplace and private garage, 5 minutes from the Le Praz gondola on the free shuttle that stops 50 m from the chalet. As of 25 October 2026, all four weeks from 6 February to 6 March 2027 are available, with arrivals possible Thursday to Sunday for a 6-night minimum.
