Getting to Courchevel: airports, train, road and transfers

Courchevel is one of the easiest Alpine resorts to reach, but changeover Saturday changes everything: journey times easily double. Here are the real options for reaching Le Praz at 1,300 m, the first village you pass on the way up.

By air

  • —Geneva: 2h15 by road, the best-served airport with plenty of transfers
  • —Lyon Saint-Exupéry: also 2h15, often cheaper from within France
  • —Chambéry: 1h30, seasonal weekend flights
  • —Grenoble: 2h, a useful alternative in February

A private transfer from Geneva usually costs €400-600 for an eight-seat van. On Saturdays, leave early: after 10am, Albertville and the climb to Moûtiers get busy.

By train

TGV services reach Moûtiers-Salins-Brides-les-Bains, 25 minutes by road from Le Praz. From Paris, allow about 4h30 direct on Saturdays. It is the most comfortable option with children: a transfer meets you at the station and you are at the chalet half an hour later. The Eurostar Ski Train runs direct from London to Moûtiers in season.

By car

Seven hours from Paris via the A6 then A43; 2h30 from Lyon; 3h30 from Milan through the Fréjus tunnel. Winter tyres are compulsory in Savoie from 1 November to 31 March, and chains are still useful on the climb from Moûtiers after snowfall. The chalet has private parking.

By helicopter or altiport

Courchevel altiport takes light aircraft and helicopters. A helicopter from Geneva takes about 40 minutes. It is a common choice over the festive weeks and something we can arrange with you.

Arriving in Le Praz

Le Praz is the first Courchevel village coming from Moûtiers: no final hairpin climb, no resort traffic. The chalet is a few minutes' walk from the gondola, and we take over on arrival for groceries, lift passes and ski hire.
